Many new computers have internal TV tuners already fitted. You can fit extra ones. These can be internal or external and use a usb connection for personal video recording.

The number of channels at once you can watch / record depends partly on your computer. A modern powerful computer will be able to cope better than an old one

Compatible TV tuners

Digital TV

Satellite TV, Freesat and Freeview

Freeview is also known as Digital Terrestrial Television - DDT

Record up to 7 or more channels at once per multiplex / transponder with only one digital TV tuner.

You can have more TV tuners for more choice and / or a dual tuner card.

Analog TV including Sky and Cable TV (UK)

For analog TV you will need one TV tuner per channel you want to watch or record.

Imaging PVR supplies a 'record only' service for Sky / cable TV. You will only get one channel per Sky /cable box with our software.

Multiplexes

Similar channel providers tend to be in the same multiplex. For example BBC tend to be in one multiplex and ITV channels in another.

Imaging PVR works out the multiplexes for you. If you only have one TV card and select a channel and want to record others, the unavailable ones are greyed out.

One TV card can record all channels in a multiplex, depending on the computer capacity.

With Freesat and satellite TV you can record more as there are more channels in a multiplex.
